| Twiggy becomes a handful |
|
When I was first given ‘Twiggy’ from the vets, she was boisterous yet a little wobbly and her urge to climb and explore was greater than her ability. However, in the last week, she has become a lot more confident and strong and now, no table, bed, drawer or curtain is out of her reach, a colleague has christened her ‘a naughty tortie’ due to her tortishell colour. Her energy levels have also rocketed. After one of her many daytime naps, she awakes alert and keen to pounce on anything and everything! My partner Angela and I laugh when we see Twiggy waking up and instantly go charging around the kitchen swiping at anything that gets in her way, gurgling and making funny little meows of excitement. Due to her age, we had expected Twiggy to display some odd behaviour and were prepared to teach her ‘how to be a cat’ as her mother and siblings would have done. Since she was abandoned, Twiglet has not benefited from the guidance of her mother and siblings, but having said that she is, remarkably, fully litter trained. The only time we have needed to step in to ‘teach’ her is when she decides to play with her litter. As Twiglet is my first kitten and coming from a dog-owning background I would appreciate any insight any of you may have to offer in addition to advice or simply to chat about kittens. Please use Twiggy’s forum thread to leave your comments. |

Twiglet is now over five weeks old and, in a relatively short space of time, she has become considerably more sure-footed.
