Five kittens have been born at the Garfield Park Conservatory, in Chicago, to a stray cat that staff have nicknamed 'Juno', after the teenage film mum, played by Ellen Page.

One of the kittens is often to be found under a cycad plant in the Fern room, which was designed in 1906 to reproduce a steamy prehistoric landscape. The cycad is one of the oldest species of plants on earth.

The designer of the conservatory, John Jensen, asked the stone mason who designed the waterfall in the Fern room, to listen to Mendelssohn’s “Spring Song” for inspiration while he was working.
