![]() Maisy enjoys watching fish in Simon's pond Speaking exclusively to Your Cat, he recalls: “I have always had cats and my first pet was Shelley. She was a scared farm cat that I begged my mum to rescue.” “They are such clever animals,” enthuses Simon. “It amazes me how they learn stuff. Jess is always finding different ways to wake me up. She started scratching at a new wardrobe so I put something in front of it to stop her, but she just moved onto something else. I can see their minds working and it’s this that I have put into animation and what people can really relate to.” ‘Simon’s Cat’ is not Simon’s first feline project — you may remember the cheetah with the posh voice in the TV advert for Steradent denture tablets. Talking about his third cat Maisy, who he adopted from Cats Protection, Simon hints at a theme for the next film: “Big Maisy is five and absolutely ginormous. She’s a beautifully marked grey tabby and when she has her winter coat she looks even bigger. She can often be seen studying my fish in the pond — another idea for my films in the making. The latest film is Simon's Sister's Dog. This a branch out for Simon, providing a warning against ovefeeding pets, especially with Christmas tidbits. It was produced in collaboration with the RSPCA for a seasonal campaign. |
