You will need:

Worsted weight yarn

Size I crochet hook

Ch: chain

St: stitch

Sl: slip

Hdc: half double crochet

Gauge: approximately 2.5 sts/inch

Stitch guide

Half Double Crochet (hdc): Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all loops on hook; repeat from *. Note: This hat is worked seamlessly. After round 1, place a marker and move it up as you work. You will join your work before the last round of the hat, and again before fastening off.

Newborn to 3 months

Ch 2.

Round 1: 10 hdc in 2nd chain from hook. (10 sts)

Round 2: *2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (20 sts)

Round 3: *hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (30 sts)

Round 4: *hdc in next 14 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (32 sts)

Sl st in next st, ch 1.

Cat ears

Round 2: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, 2hdc in next st, hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st. Join to first st. (6 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1. 2hdc in same st, *2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join to first st. (12 sts)

Round 4: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, *hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (12 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to secure ears to hat. Using a tapestry needle and the yarn tail on the ear, secure ears to the top of the hat.
