This cute cat box ideal for storing goodies and jewellery, and is handmade in Kashmir, India.
This decorative box is handcrafted out of papier-mâché, a craft that has been part of Kashmiri culture since the 15th century. The process of shaping the box is called sakhtazi, and starts with recycled paper pulp that is soaked, molded, then dried. The surface is then coated with glue, burnished smooth, and layered with tissue paper. Then the box is entirely hand painted, a process called naqashi.
Finally, lacquer is applied to seal the box, giving durability to these little cats. These decorative boxes make a great gift, made even nicer when you fill it with candy or another small offering. Fairly and ethically traded.
Approximately L: 8.5.cms x W: 6.5cms x H: 7.5cms. Easter bunnies are also available to buy!
Available in cream, black, red, and blue. The five winners will be able to select which colour they would like.
