Fancy Cats Organisation is bringing its popular Cat Show Event to London at the end of August. The Fancy Cats London 'SpeCATular' is being held on the weekend of 30th-31st August and will see cats and kittens from all over the UK competing for titles, ranking points, prizes and the honour of being Best in Show over the two days. The event is taking place at the University of Greenwich Avery Hill Campus, Avery Hill Road, London, SE9 2UG and is open to the public from 10am to 4pm Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August.

Visitors can expect to see many different types of beautiful cats and kittens of all shapes and sizes being judged by international judges in competition, chat to breeders and exhibitors, meet their cats and watch the 'Fancy Cat Purrade' where all the different breeds are showcased. There are also breed presentations, children's activities, cat rescues and vendors selling cat related wares and all the things that a cat might want.

Among the pedigree breeds expected to be at the show are: British, Persian, Exotic, Bengal, Maine Coon, Oriental, Siamese, Ragdoll, Somali, Cornish Rex, Ocicat and Aztec.

It is an opportunity for people to get up close to the cats and to find out about the different breeds in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

The Fancy Cats 'Purrade' is always a popular part of the show with visitors, where cats from each of the different breeds come up in turn to the presentation area to meet the public and for people to hear about their background, history, appearance and personalities.

Among those exhibiting at the show will be Stephen Whiting from Sidcup who is bringing his Chocolate Spotted Ocicat called Lottie and his Black Classic Tabby Aztec named Laurence.

Stephen commented,

"I love the friendly atmosphere at these shows and really enjoy letting the visitors meet my cats and giving them the opportunity to learn about the different breeds.  My cats enjoy meeting the people who come to visit and saying 'hello' to everybody there. I have quite rare breeds that perhaps not many people know much about so it is a good opportunity to raise their profile and to allow a new audience to discover them."

All cats are celebrated and one of the features of the show is that the competition has classes for household pet cats. There is also a Fancy Cats Class which sees both pedigree cats and household pets going head to head in competition; meaning that someone entering their household pet can discover that their cat is a star.  More information on entering the show can be found by contacting Fancy Cats Organisation.

Fancy Cats host regular events across the UK where spectators can enjoy the excitement, meet beautiful cats, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Founder and Director of Fancy Cats, Kelly Makdissy, said,

"Our mission is to celebrate and support cats in all their diversity by promoting ethical breeding and showcasing the beauty of all cats.  We are dedicated to preserving breeds, raising awareness about responsible ownership and highlighting the joy and companionship that cats can bring to our lives."

"We foster a vibrant, inclusive community where cat lovers, responsible breeders and advocates come together to celebrate, protect and elevate the feline world."

International Cat Judges attending the show include Sue Hart-Jones from Cornwall, Jan Bradley from Hampshire, Nicki Fenwick-Raven from Essex and Kelly Makdissy from Stoke-on-Trent.

Cats get taken up to judging rings where those visiting can watch them being judged and hear about the cats and what the judges think about them.

International Cat Judge, Sue Hart-Jones commented,

"There is always a super selection of high quality cats being exhibited at these shows and I am so looking forward to coming to London and meeting the wonderful cats that will be there, talking to exhibitors and being able to tell the visiting public all about each of the different cats as I am judging them."

The work of cat rescues is also a feature of the shows held by Fancy Cats Organisation. Kool Cat Rescue, who through their craft stall raise funds in order to look after and find homes for rescue cats and kittens, had attended a previous show with some of their rescue cats who were looking for homes and as a direct result four of their kittens were reserved by people who had been visiting and will now have found new, loving homes.

Jools Price and Mitzi Booth, the founders of Kool Cat Rescue, said,

"The shows that Fancy Cats put on give us the opportunity to highlight the work that we do to look after and find loving homes for cats in need and at the same time enable us to raise much needed funds for the work that we do.  We are delighted that four of our kittens will have now found new homes through our presence at their last show."

For those interested in going along and seeing an array of beautiful cats, further information and tickets are available online at www.fcorg.com or at the door of the show hall on both days.
