The tagline on the Dreamies website states, “All it takes is a shake” and as a cat owner for the last 10 years, Your Cat’s very own Nathaniel and his cat, Patience, can confirm that to be very true!
The testers:
Nathaniel has been part of the Your Cat team for almost a year now. His feline friend, Patience, joined the family over six years ago now after a turbulent start to life to say the least. She now features regularly in Your Cat content and is even viral on TikTok!
Patience, age 8-ish
Dreamies cat treats have been a favourite among the community for a while now and remain the popular choice, partly down to the regular addition of new flavour to the range.
Cats can now enjoy the following flavours:
- Catnip
- Chicken
- Beef
- Salmon
- Cheese
- Tuna
- Turkey
- Duck
While all flavours are liked, Patience takes particular interest in the chicken and cheese flavours. The treat itself has a crunchy outer shell with a rewarding soft consistency inside. Patience, 8, makes light work of the outer shell. Her enthusiasm for the next treat never fades which leads us to believe they’re quite tasty too!
Dreamies say their treats are just two calories each and contain no artificial flavours Given Patience’s thoughts on the product, that’s a key selling point. By comparison to other treats on the market, a treat so nutritionally dense and so low in calories is more than appreciated. So is the price. £5.50 for a 350g ‘mega tub’ is great value for money by comparison too.
Given her standing in the family is best described as ‘royalty’ Patience has become accustomed her Dreamies being hand-fed to her. The almost famous box shake now works as a call to come home for the evening, with the treats themselves now acting as a sign that it’s now time to settle down. However a handful of treats also make for a fun game while promoting her natural instincts, when they're scattered across the lawn.
Finally we must discuss the packaging, and while it’s hardly your cats biggest concern, each flavour’s unique and bold packaging is certainly a pull factor for us humans. The boxes are described as ‘claw resistant’ which is true. However from past experience I would also recommend hiding said box away from your cat’s reach. A part-full box can be pushed over by a feline best described as having “a bit of weight behind her”.
Dreamies are also available in creamy tubes, and as meat sticks. While Patience has not tested either of these two products. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that they would go down as a success.
Overall both myself and Patience give have to give Dreamies 5 stars. Every time the tub opens, she is as enthusiastic as the first time, and we have no doubt this will continue long into the future!
